  • Duration: Meets daily for 2 hours Monday to Friday (5 days)
  • Format: Virtual tech camp, small group size of maximum 3 students
  • Best suited for: Upper primary students eager to move beyond block coding and start writing real code in a supportive, hands-on environment.

About This Course

Step into the world of real coding with Code Pioneers! In this camp, students use CodeHS to learn Python – the language behind today’s apps, games, and technology. Through hands-on projects and guided challenges, young coders will build interactive programs, solve problems, and discover how professional programmers think – all while developing confidence and creativity in a supportive environment.

Level 1: Python Fundamentals

What You'll Learn​

  • Get started with text-based coding in Python using CodeHS
  • Learn about variables, data types, and user input
  • Write simple programs and games to practice new skills
  • Understand how to use loops and conditionals for decision-making
  • Build confidence through fun, interactive coding challenges

Level 2: Building with Python

What You'll Learn​

  • Dive deeper into functions, lists, and more advanced data structures
  • Create more complex games and applications
  • Explore debugging and troubleshooting techniques
  • Work on real-world inspired projects that reinforce logical thinking

Prerequisites: Students need to have completed Code Pioneers: Python Programming Camp Level 1, or similar introductory course as a prerequisite.

System Requirements

A laptop or tablet with connected keyboard and mouse, webcam, and a good Wi-Fi connection. Learners should be familiar with basic use of a laptop or desktop computer and how to use Zoom.

Frequently Asked Questions

No prior experience is necessary. The camp starts with the basics and is designed for beginners and those new to text-based coding.

We use CodeHS, an interactive online platform that makes learning Python engaging and accessible for young students.

Students will build simple games, interactive programs, and real-world projects as they progress through the course.

Classes are taught in small groups (max 3 students in a class) for personalized support, with a mix of instruction, hands-on coding, and project-based learning.
