Frequently Asked Questions

The BBC micro:bit is a pocket-sized programmable computer that introduces kids to how software and hardware work together. It has an LED light display, different sensors that can detect light, sound or motion, any many other fun features.

Learning to make products or prototypes with micro:bit is a well rounded activity which helps students develop technical skills and understand the concepts of electronics, prototyping, testing and coding. Students also gain important transferable skills like design thinking.

Learning to code with the micro:bit provides students with a programming foundation they can use as a stepping stone for them to move on to more sophisticated programming languages such as Python or Java! With a strong foundation, kids will have an easier time understanding different technologies and more advanced coding concepts, opening the door to an exciting world of technology and even careers in STEM!

Students who have a busy schedule will benefit from our online camps as it greatly reduces the commute time to and from class! They will need to spare only 90 minutes a day from the comfort of home to attend the online camp! As with all our classes, students will benefit from a private online 1-on-1 class with an experienced tutor.

Absolutely! Because our Online Private Lessons are 1-on-1 with an instructor, the curriculum is customized to meet your child’s skill level, unique interests, and long-term goals. Whether they are just starting out or super advanced, our experienced instructors will engage them to bring out their best!

Students will need a Windows or Mac computer with a connected mic and webcam. They also need to have Zoom installed. We do not recommend tablets, as the multi-tasking ability between Zoom and some browser-based teaching platforms is often unreliable. Students will also need their own micro:bit kit, the cost of which is included in the camp fees and will be sent to them before the camp commences. Please expect up to 3 working days for shipping.
