Camp 1 – App Pioneer
Prerequisites: This is a beginner level camp with no experience necessary.
Projects include a maze game that uses a gyroscope (tilt), the popular Mole Mash game and a quiz app
Camp 2 – App Designer
Prerequisites:Students need to have completed Mobile App Development Camp 1 or similar introductory course as a prerequisite.
Project highlights include Tank Wars – a multiplayer game, an emotion detection app, and a money management app.
A laptop with connected keyboard and mouse, webcam, and a good Wi-Fi connection.
A smartphone to test their apps, either iPhone or Android
Mobile App Development involves developing applications or games intended for a mobile phone or tablet. Students learn about User Interface (UI) and how to make use of the many sensors found in mobile devices today.
With over a staggering 200 billion mobile apps downloaded each year, it is imperative for kids to understand how this technology they use almost daily works. UI design is a skillset with applications across several sectors as well.
Mobile Application Development gives students a strong programming foundation while also developing their creativity through learning to design mobile apps. It is a great stepping stone for them to move on to more sophisticated programming languages such as Python or delve in Robotics or IoT with their new knowledge of mobile device sensors! With a strong foundation, kids will have an easier time understanding different technologies and more advanced coding concepts, opening the door to an exciting world of technology and even careers in STEM!
Students who have a busy schedule will benefit from our online camps as it greatly reduces the commute time to and from class! They will need to spare only 90 minutes a day from the comfort of home to attend the online camp! As with all our classes, students will benefit from a private online 1-on-1 class with an experienced tutor.
Definitely! As all our online lessons are 1-on-1 with a tutor, the curriculum is personalised to meet your child’s skill level, and tailored to suit their unique interests. Whether they are just starting out or have prior coding experience, our tutors will engage and challenge them to bring out their best!
Students will need a Windows or Mac computer with a connected mic and webcam. They also need to have Zoom installed. We do not recommend tablets to code, as the multi-tasking ability between Zoom and some browser-based teaching platforms is often unreliable. Students should also have an additional device – either a mobile phone or tablet, which will be used to test the apps they will create.
